Technology-Driven Innovation Idea Creation Workshop

2024/12/24

On November 16th, 2024, Tokushima University i.school held the "Technology-Driven Innovation Idea Creation Workshop" on Josanjima Campus.

Professor Horii Hideyuki (Professor Emeritus at the University of Tokyo) who is the developer of the innovation workshop was invited to serve as a facilitator for the day, and he held a workshop on the theme of "Methods for Generating Ideas from Existing Seeds (technology)."

32 people including 17 undergraduate students from Tokushima University (including 16 students from the i.school), one student from Kobe University, one high school student, six people from companies both within and outside the prefecture and seven faculty and staff members (including those from other universities) attended the workshop. They analyzed promising new technologies and new products that have already been announced, identified the needs that these technologies are trying to satisfy and applied the "technologies owned by companies" and "seeds of research being done at universities" that each person brought with them to come up with ideas for new products, new services, new research and development, and more.

The workshop was a great success with students and working participants stimulating each other as they attempted to analyze the needs in the market based on technology and existing products.

In the student survey, some students commented, "This workshop made me want to go deeper into what I have researched and found to be reliable, rather than just repeating what others have told me," and it seemed that they were experiencing the true joy of the innovation workshop.

The idea generation methods provided by Professor Horii made the entire event very meaningful, providing participants with a wealth of learning and inspiration.
