The Faculty of Integrated Arts and Sciences provides knowledge and skills that are in demand in society today. Students will acquire expertise and specialized skills by studying in disciplines across the humanities, anthropology and the social sciences, regional studies, and information science. They will gain a clear understanding of regional issues and many issues that face globalized modern society by synthesizing insights from both general and specialized areas of study. The school aims to develop in graduates the ability to solve problems and contribute to improving the welfare and culture of humankind.
The Faculty of Integrated Arts and Sciences started as the Department of Integrated Arts and Social Sciences in April 2016 and was reorganized in 2024. The new faculty offers three courses of study: Comparative Studies in Society and Culture, Health Sciences of Mind and Body, and Regional Design. Globalization presents various issues for modern society, and there is a pressing need for social initiatives to address them. The Faculty of Integrated Arts and Sciences offers diverse scholarship and interdisciplinary education and research opportunities relevant to solving these issues. We aim to educate individuals by equipping them with specialized knowledge and skills across diverse fields, and by integrating this expertise with a broad understanding in the humanities, human studies, social sciences, regional studies, and information sciences. Our goal is to produce professionals who can contribute to society by accurately understanding and effectively addressing the multifaceted issues of a globalizing modern world as well as specific regional challenges.

Comparative Studies in Society and Culture Course
This course aims to cultivate knowledge and cultural insight, and provide skills and experience that can be utilized in international careers. Leaders in a globalized society need to have a clear-sighted view of the world, which can be developed through research in myriad areas of society and culture. In this course, we aim to foster global citizens who are keen to understand issues that face communities around the world and who have the language and communication skills needed to address a range of challenges.
Specifically, we offer multiple study-abroad programs for advanced language and communication training. The programs aim to cultivate broad-minded thinking through multidisciplinary studies and insight into one’s own and other cultures. We want students to think independently and emerge with a comprehensive outlook for addressing the diverse issues of globalization.
Health Sciences of Mind and Body Course
This course aims to develop professionals who can provide all-around support for healthy living in local communities, addressing both mental and physical aspects of health. Students who complete the necessary coursework can advance to graduate school where they may pursue credentials to become a certified or clinical psychologist. Others may obtain a physical education teaching license or certifications related to sports coaching, paving the way toward becoming professionals who promote mental and physical health.
Regional Design Course
Society today, ever globalizing and diversifying in values, faces varied and complex challenges at regional, national, and international levels. Addressing these challenges requires not only deep knowledge in specialized fields but also a comprehensive, integrated approach. The Regional Design Course aims to graduate pragmatic-minded professionals capable of working to actively solve regional and societal issues and build a sustainable society. Students acquire interdisciplinary expertise and skills in areas such as information design, artistic design, regional culture, community studies, and public policy.
