Our department has performed various clinical research in which the aim is to develop a safe, painless orthodontic treatment. Furthermore, with taking in collaboration with intramural and extramural research groups, we are also promoting basic scientific research to identify the mechanism of pathogenesis of multiple myeloma bone disease and the mechanism of TMJ osteoarthritis and neuropathic pain.

Our research projects are as follows:

  1. Elucidation and therapeutic application of bone-initiated multi-organ crosstalk across mechanical, neural, metabolic, and tumor systems
  2. Research on clinical support technologies utilizing AI and digital methods based on dental imaging and morphological information
  3. Therapeutic effects of SHED-CM on the temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis and neuropathic pain
  4. Development of secured novel dental materials

Our department provides specialized orthodontic care for a wide range of cases, from general malocclusion to jaw deformities with skeletal discrepancy and malocclusion associated with congenital diseases.
In recent years, new orthodontic appliances have been developed, and it is now possible to use esthetic appliance or to wear lingual bracket appliance so that the appliances are invisible.
In addition to the regular examinations using radiographs, detailed examinations are performed using oral scanner, 3D facial camera, 3DCT, MRI, MKG, and EMG. Based on the results of these examinations, case conferences are held for the treatment of all patients, and treatment plans are designed and carried out according to the symptoms of each patient.
